May Round Up!

Wow! What a month.

May is always a busy one for us with Royal Windsor, Devon County, Royal Bath & West and our local BSPS area show.

The beginning of the month saw us head to Royal Windsor - our favourite show of the year! We decided just to take Lisa Frain's 'Mister Belstaff' for the Novice Cob class... Quite a big ask for an inexperienced horse. Lisa told me she just wanted a nice photo in HM's garden... However, he exceeded all our expectations to finish 5th in a massive class of Lightweights, Heavyweights and Maxis! It was an absolute pleasure to see 'Dude's owner so happy with a pink rosette - it really makes everything worthwhile.

Next we were off to our local county show - Devon County! Thursday saw Mathemadam High Spirit (Tally at home) pick up a win in the RIHS Large Hack class. Later in the day Mister Belstaff contested his first HOYS qualifier just to gain some experience. Yet again, he surpassed all expectations to be pulled second initially and finish 6th in a very strong class against much older, experienced horses.

On Saturday we headed back down to Wetpoint with our baby homebred Show Pony Leading Rein - Baylew St Lullaby. Another one who was just there to learn - she performed beautifully with a foot perfect show to finish fourth in her first RIHS Open qualifier. We were very proud of 'Lily and her jockey Maizie - they have a combined age of just 10 years old!

The following week was Royal Bath & West Show - we took 'Dude' for the Novice Cob class as we aren't aiming for the RIHS with him this year. He finished a very creditable 4th in another huge class of all the weights. He has improved with every outing and is now enjoying a well deserved holiday.
